Rose Granny
Rose Granny
The box Rick gave her was long and slim, like the kind that hold diamond bracelets in old noir films.
Inside was a length of squares, encrusted with pale glass and pearls, each a little different but all in a harmony of hue. They looked like the royal Russian jewels at the Hermitage. But then she looked again. “They’re Granny Squares!”
Rick got that smug look, which means he’s been leafing through Bazaar again. He knew that granny squares are having an inexplicable revival in the 2020s, landing on everything from Dolce & Gabbana jackets to an entire Volkswagen swaddled in yarn. Sometimes they -- still -- even become afghans!
